How To Thread Needle And Tie A Knot Before Sewing?

If you are not a sewer yet or craft-minded, threading a needle properly may not be something that has crossed your mind before.
Now is the time to get ready to thread the needle and tie the knot before you embark on your sewing odyssey.
This is a must before you start to sew any stitch. Tie a strong knot to secure thread in the needle.
I will demonstrate here with the embroidery thread. It's thick and easier for you to see.

 1. Cut a length of thread according to your need. Don't cut too long because it will get tangled as you sew. Insert the thread through the eye of the needle.Hold the needle with your left hand and insert the thread with right hand(if you are right handed and vice versa).

 2. Pull the thread through the eye of needle until you get one side longer than the other side.

 3. Pick up the longer side of thread and hold the last 1.0 cm of your thread perpendicular to your needle.

 4. Get ready to twist the thread.

 5. Twist the thread around the needle twice. If your thread is very fine, you may need to twist the thread around the needle five or six times to get a solid knot later.

 6. Press the twisted part of thread with your left thumb. In the photo above, I didn't press it so that you can see the twisted part :)

 7. Pull the twisted thread down the needle towards the eye and down the length of the thread.

8. When it reaches the end, tighten it into a knot. You get a knot at the end of longer side thread. Trim off the excess thread after the knot.
